We paid a visit to the award-winning home of English quality wines at Wyches Vineyard, in Upper Swanmore, passionately ran by its owners, Tony and Jane Burton. Tony and Jane welcomed us to their farm where this intricate operation has been taking place since 2016. The grapes are grown under strict surveillance from Tony and Jane and undergo five main stages: harvesting, pressing- which takes place the same evening that the grapes are picked, having been personally driven to Bolney Wine Estate in Sussex where the next stages of... fermentation, clarification, and then aging and bottling take place.
Since 2016, the vineyard, spread over 5 acres of land, has been nurtured and growing 4 varieties of grape to produce fine still Red, White and Rose Wines and an additional English Sparkling Wine. Tony and Jane have invested a lot into equipment, time and knowledge therefore ensuring this venture results in a successful and fruitful (no pun intended) outcome. The vineyard enjoys a maritime micro-climate which could be part of the reason why these wines are so sought after, award-winning, and often sold-out.
