Metis Homes donated £500 to the 2022 Christmas in Fordingbridge event, which saw the community come together to celebrate the lights switch on and enjoy the festivities. The sponsorship was used to buy confectionary for the Christmas Grotto, handed out by Santa to children from the riverside town, which is known as the northern gateway to The New Forest.
early evening event took place on Friday 2nd December and was attended by hundreds of local families. It was organised by Fordingbridge Events Group, Fordingbridge Town Council, Fordingbridge Greener Living, and Fordingbridge Rotary Club. The event generated much-needed funds to enable other community initiatives to take place across the town.
David Oakley, Sales and Marketing Director for Metis Homes, said: “With our Forest Edge development in Fordingbridge recently launching for off-plan sales, we were delighted to come on board as a sponsor of this wonderful festive event. It was heart-warming for our team to assist Santa and his elves for the evening and see how excited the community were to come together to create cherished memories.”
“In the New Year we will have more reason to celebrate, as we will be able to welcome local people - and those looking to relocate to Fordingbridge - onto our development site for a tour. Construction work is progressing at pace and there will be a selection of beautiful new homes ready to move into during the springtime.”
The Christmas in Fordingbridge activities included street performers, Colin Nutley’s Christmas disco, Christmas stalls, crafts for children by The Salvation Army, Santa at his grotto, choir performances, the Hyde Band, dance performances, and stalls in the town hall. The Fordingbridge Christmas Trail runs until 30th December, with a prize to collect from the Information Office or Library.
Pete White, Chair of Fordingbridge Events Group, said: “It was such a proud moment to be there for the Christmas lights switch on, with other community groups in the town. Being able to celebrate us all coming together after previous events have been stalled because of the pandemic really made it a night to remember. We are very grateful to Metis Homes and all our other sponsors for their generous donations. Support from local businesses is vital to make events such as this so successful and fun for all.”
Metis Homes’ Forest Edge development features a range of 63 apartments and family homes available from £300,000. Off-plan sales are well over the 40% mark at the exclusive new scheme, which is located close to the River Avon, near to the Dorset and Wiltshire borders. Two three-bedroom houses are available for occupation during spring 2023, enabling people to benefit from living in a brand new eco-efficient new home within a matter of months.
Fordingbridge town centre, with its array of independent bars, restaurants, boutique shops, convenience stores, community and leisure facilities, is less than a mile from the development, which is accessed off Salisbury Road.
The spacious development plan for Forest Edge includes two play areas and a purpose-designed dog agility course, all surrounded by mature woodland trees. Footpaths leading to inspiring Forest walks can be joined right from the development boundary. The traditional architecture and red brick elevations of the houses and apartments are inspired by the local vernacular.
The headquarters for the Game & Wildlife Conservation Trust, which runs an annual programme of events and tours, is only a mile from the Forest Edge development. New Forest Water Park is three miles away. Travel beyond Fordingbridge is convenient, with the A338 located within easy reach.
