Meaningful community engagement isn’t about words. It’s about commitment and action. Below are some examples of how we engage with our wider stakeholder audiences.
Funding a community hall in Barnham
A strong partnership between Metis Homes and Barnham Parish Council in West Sussex resulted in the village achieving its goal of building a brand new state-of-the-art community hall. By buying the land of the existing parish hall ready for development, Metis Homes contributed to and forward financed the funding needed to build a £1 million community centre with a range of improved facilities.
The White Hart
In Dorchester, the site of Metis Homes’ Eastgate development was once occupied by the White Hart pub, which dated back to 1895 and features in a short story by Thomas Hardy. Appreciating its significance to the local community, we are incorporating the iconic white hart statue, which once stood above the pub entrance, into the new scheme.
Hampshire's unique solution to homelessness
Emmaus Hampshire is a vibrant and thriving social enterprise community for the homeless, providing meaningful employment through retail, catering, distribution and facility management services along with personal development for all individuals which can help secure their way back into independent living.
We are hugely proud to be involved in a small way as a long term sponsor and will try to offer support to help them address the needs of the homeless in the region
