We are backed by our parent company RO Group, and with access to their systems, research, contact base and ultimately the scale of their balance sheet places us in an advantageous position when competing with businesses of a similar size.
The RO Group
The RO Group is an entrepreneurial family company which has been in business for over 90 years. Based upon the founding principle that the company is ‘in business to do business’ this simple but direct approach has seen the RO Group thrive over the years through investment in a diverse range of interests, which continues to this day.
Adam co-founded Metis Homes in 2007 with Tony Burton, and has long played a pivotal role in the successful management and growth of the business.
He formerly worked at Linden Homes where, working alongside regional Chairman Tony Burton, he built a strong reputation for his skill in land buying.
Adam was appointed Managing Director of Metis Homes in April 2015 to drive the company forward and develop the Metis Homes brand.
Andrew has overall responsibility for the major construction projects we build with third party main contractors.
Andrew is also the director responsible for health and safety and all after-sales matters. Andrew has extensive experience of property development across the south spanning some 30 years.
He joined Metis Homes in 2012 following a career leading landmark regeneration schemes, in partnership with local authorities, together with challenging new build as well as mixed use and conversion developments.
Alistair joined Metis Homes from WYG Consultants, where he held an executive role as Director in Planning for many years. Alistair brings with him over 15 years’ experience as a planning consultant with a diverse background in the industry and ample experience leading teams through the development process.
Alistair works alongside our Managing Director, Adam O’Brien, in driving and overseeing all planning activity and will seek to maintain our unblemished track record in the planning arena.
Mike is responsible for land acquisition at Metis Homes. His fundamental goal is to secure the very best locations for our developments, to ensure that our homes meet our customer’s expectations and needs. He is responsible for securing both our immediate land requirements and for the growth of our strategic land portfolio.
Mike is a Chartered Surveyor with a specialism in Planning and Development. Prior to joining Metis Homes he represented the land function on the regional board of directors at Churchill Retirement and was a development surveyor with Savills.
Nigel is our pre-construction and technical director with 37 years’ industry experience, having run Mapledean for 31 of those.
After 6 years working as a contractor partner with Metis, we have now brought Nigel’s construction team in house to deliver our planned growth.
Nigel has a flair for all things design related and an unrivalled technical eye for detail, with a depth of knowledge that ensures each Metis scheme is carefully and properly designed and built.
Chris is our construction director on all housebuilding sites, responsible for the smooth, safe and high quality delivery of our homes.
Chris has spent his whole career in the industry, running Mapledean’s construction sites for the vast majority of that time. Chris has natural communication skills and an aptitude for problem solving, vital for all stages of the construction process from build to customer care.
David joined the company in 2010 and is now Sales and Marketing Director following successive promotions.
With over 23 years of experience and knowledge of the property industry David has developed into one of the most well-rounded and effective sales and marketing professionals in the south, with a commitment to the company.
David is passionate about delivering high levels of customer service, sharing this ethos with his team to ensure all our customers enjoy their journey when buying a Metis Home.
Rachel is responsible for the smooth running of the office and supporting the Metis Homes team.
Having previously worked in admin roles for Hampshire County Council’s Children’s Services department, and at HM Revenue & Customs, she brings strong skills and a fresh eye to the property business.
Andy is responsible for subcontract procurement and financial management of construction budgets in conjunction with the site teams. Having joined the industry from school at the age of 16, Andy worked in main contracting for 13 years before moving into house building working with Linden Homes for 15 years and Southcott Homes for 4 years before joining the business.
Sally joined the Metis Team as Advance Sales Manager in November 2019, with her she brings her speciality knowledge in selling off-plan properties.
Having worked in a similar role within Bargate Homes, Linden Homes and Crest Nicholson, Sally has spent over 25 years within the New Homes Industry helping customers buy their dream home.
With a background in house building as Customer Service Manager for Berkeley Homes, in property maintenance and also as a Personal Assistant Fiona joined the business as Construction Administrator. Her diverse experience gives her the perfect skills to support Nigel, Chris and the team in a variety of duties to assist in the running of the construction side of business.
Dean is our Senior Architectural Technician. For the 20 years before joining the company Dean worked for several prestigious architects across the South from Chichester to Fordingbridge.
With 39 years’ experience in the construction industry, Bill has recently joined the Metis Team after working in Customer Services with Berkley Homes Southern for the last 8 years. Bill’s remit is to oversee the final inspection and commissioning process in order that our Customers enter their new Homes with little or no defects. With his keen eye for detail and his understanding nature, Bill and his team will guide our Customers throughout the 2 year warranty period.
Jolene supports David as part of the sales team, progressing reservations through to completion, whilst dealing with initial sales enquiries and portal advertising.
This is Jolene’s 19th year of working within the property industry; she brings a wealth of experience to the team from both an estate agency and developer perspective and has proved to be a great ambassador for Metis on each customer’s buying journey.
Steve has been in the Real Estate industry for over 40 years, originally working for a main contractor before moving into the Housing sector 20 years ago.
He joined the business as Site Manager and is responsible for Health & Safety on site, the control of the sub-contractors/materials and general site management. Prior to joining us, Steve worked for Bargate Homes for 10 years.
Mike has been involved in the construction industry for 38 years having worked as a shopfitter, site managing several refits and new builds for Boots around the UK. Mike manages the on-site Health & Safety and site operations to programme and to a satisfactory, timely handover within the advised budgets.
Having been in the industry for 30 years Andy joined the business as Site Manager. Andy is responsible for Health & Safety on site, the control of the sub-contractors and general site management. Prior to joining us, Andy worked for Bargate Homes for about 14 years.
Liam brings over 30 years of experience in the construction industry to Metis Homes. With 26 years dedicated to site management, Liam has consistently delivered exceptional results for renowned house builders including Bargate Homes, DrewSmith/Galliford Try, and Orchard Homes. His commitment to excellence is evident in his recent National Site of the Year award (2023, 50-100 units category). Liam is a pending CIOB member and has overseen significant projects such as the Salcombe Harbour Hotel, among others. When not overseeing construction projects, Liam enjoys spending time with his family and pursuing his many hobbies, which include snooker, gardening, and cheering on Liverpool FC.
Sandra Warner is our newest member to join the Metis family working within the Sales Team as Senior Sales Executive. Sandra will be based at our flagship development Forest Edge in Fordingbridge managing the customer journey process from initial enquiries through to legal completion and handover. Sandra has a wealth of experience within the new homes industry having worked with national and regional housebuilders, including senior roles overseas.
Jo works alongside Customer Services Manager, Bill Warren, and has a sound foundation in customer focussed roles which include having worked in a similar position for a major housebuilding company. She is committed to offering our customers excellent service and support.
Chris joined the business as Site Assistant/Telehandler Operator working to assist our Site Managers in the running of the sites. With 25 years in the building industry, both self employed and via agency work on telehandlers on some large developments, Chris also worked for Mouldings of Salisbury for 10 years.
Serena has joined the Metis family as Accounts Manager providing support to Head of Finance.
Serena brings a good level of experience and knowledge of the sector having started her career in the construction industry as an Administrator and furthering her career in accounting roles before joining Metis Homes.
James is one of our newest team members to join the Metis family as Senior Buyer, working closely with the construction and commercial departments to ensure financial viability and timely delivery of our developments.
James brings a wealth of experience having worked within the construction industry for over 15 years and more recently with Countryside Partnerships. (previously known as Drew Smith)
From his time working on sites project coordinating, to managing multiple projects his experience has helped him build strong supply chain relationships, being responsible for approval of specifications with various clients, to material procurement for a range of private homes, mixed tenure housing, including assisted living care homes within Hampshire.
Alan joins the Metis family with 35 years experience in the construction industry. He dedicated himself to leaning both carpentry and bricklaying skills in the mid 80's. This led to a move into customer care in the new millennium, first with Taylor Woodrow and later with Berkeley Homes. Alan’s acute eye for detail and wealth of building knowledge provides our customer care department with an excellent new team member.
Wayne joined the business in 2023 as Senior Technical Coordinator, working alongside and providing support to the Technical Director.
Wayne brings a wealth of experience having started his working life as a building services CAD technician and after a couple of years found his way into the Civil Engineering consultancy world working for some larger organisations on interesting and high profile projects alongside a whole host of residential developments for 16+ years. For the past eight years Wayne has worked for some of the largest housebuilders in the country primarily utilising the engineering background and attention to detail ensuring an efficient design and build.
Richard became Chairman and Chief Executive of the RO Group in 1986. Under his stewardship the group has shown substantial growth.
Edward joined the RO Group in 2007 and is now the Group Managing Director. Since Edward’s appointment the group has expanded into a diverse range of activities.
Richard joined the RO Group as Non-Executive Director in 2012 having just retired from spending over thirty years working for Mansell Construction Services (part of Balfour Beatty plc.). Richard has a wealth of building and construction expertise as well as general commercial experience.
